New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal
New Bedford, MA
During construction of the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal, soil contamination was discovered including high levels of PCB’s, oils, lead, and VOCs. To address this complex remediation effort, MCE collaborated closely with Cashman-Weeks NB, the Licensed Site Professional (LSP), and the site owner, to develop and execute a comprehensive environmental solution that would enable construction to proceed as scheduled.

MCE undertook the removal and disposal of 8,100 tons of polluted soil. Due to the varying contaminates affecting such a large volume of material, diverse transportation and disposal methods were required. MCE utilized both rail and truck transportation to safely transport the hazardous soil offsite to facilities spanning from New Hampshire to Utah.
MCE's expertise and successful execution ensured construction schedules were maintained.
